There are some free tools which helps you to find how much traffic or hits your website getting on the internet, also you can know how is your site placed in search engine and where are the traffics coming from to your site.
Alexa: Go to Alexa.com/siteinfo -> type your website name and press enter. Now you can see Alexa ranking of website, page views, unique visitors etc. Alexa rank is not based on sites traffic, it is also relative to the traffic of other websites monitored by alexa.
Compete: Using compete you can know the total US traffic for almost all sites on the web. Compete uses data from ISPs, it uses other data sources to measure the traffic and compete have their own tool bar. It also bids others metrics like demographics, average stay duration, page views, impressions etc. but all these are for paid users only.
Similar Web: Through Similar web you will get information about websites traffic over time, it shows keyword which bringing traffic, the country which sending more traffic, and the time users spending on your website. You can also download reports as PDF.
SEM Rush: SEM rush offers you lot of information about organic traffic of any website. Type in your website url and immediately you will know how the website has done in organic search. Here you can know keyword that bringing more vistors, which sites are sending traffic, and data split by country.
Find site traffic with Google adwords:
You can know how much traffic your site getting. To know that, go to Display planner; use your google account to sign (no need to be adwords advertiser). Now enter your website name in search box, set the campaign targeting to country you want. If you want to see global traffic, just remove geographic targeting. Next click on Get Placement Ideas now Google will display your websites average impressions per week.
